Christmas Quilt

My weekend goal= I am rushing to finish the quilt I promised my sweet little 8 yr old niece for Christmas! She has already seen her pieced top and the beginning of the quilting process as i worked on it when she was at the hospital in Louisville. Our precious little Kenzie has been through so much, her illness came about so suddenly and now she has had to learn how to live her life from the confines of a wheelchair. A really awesome lime green one with front wheels that light up, still her life has changed, my sister and her husband face new challenges every day and so do her big brothers and her baby brother. As I've watched my sister live in hospitals, watching over her little one, i kept thinking there has to be a way to help these parents, to offer them comfort. My heart keeps going to the Neonatal ICU where routinely babies who weigh less than 3 lbs are lying there struggling for life and i have found that it is very hard to find clothing for these little one because they have to be specially made to accommodate any IVs or tubing these children have, this  type of clothing can not have snaps because they could become warm enough to damage the sensitive skin of a premature baby. For these little ones there is no such thing as their parents running to the local chain store for new onesies or even diapers. there are very few things on the market that are able to accommodate a two pound baby. Well that is where Aunt Wednesdays comes into the picture! I will specifically be designing and crocheting outfits appropriate for your baby to use in the NICU. Please say a special prayer tonight for all of the parents who are standing besides their children's bed this night praying for a miracle.... and also for our own miracle, Kenzie, that the Lord has given our family. Thank You Merry Christmas
